“Come away, my beloved…” (SOS 8:14, NIV) As the beautiful love song, known as the Song of Songs, comes to an end in 8:14, the Divine Lover relentlessly invites his beloved to come away, i.e., to flee from all attractions and distractions, for a greater journey of love and life with him. How are you responding to his invitation? What is he like? What is his voice like? How are you growing and deepening in love and union with him? What might be hindering your walk with him? What kind of season or learning space you are in right now? What kind of spiritual practices are helping you to come to his presence? How are you discerning his call? Spiritual direction is a ministry of the soul in a relationship with God, who loves, saves, forgives, restores, and heals. My role as a spiritual director is to create an unhurried, listening and contemplative space for the directee to sit in the presence of God and to pay attention to him and his voice. Christina is an ordained Baptist pastor with 20 years of pastoral experience. She has a D.Min. in Spiritual Direction from Fuller Theological Seminary. She is a Certified Spiritual Director.
